Ahmedabad Schools on High Alert: Bomb Threat Emails Trigger Multi-Campus Security Lockdown

AHMEDABAD, India — A wave of panic spread through Ahmedabad’s academic community on Wednesday as three major schools received chilling bomb threat emails, triggering immediate security protocols and police deployment across the city.
The synchronized digital threats, confirmed by senior police officials, have once again raised concerns about the vulnerability of educational institutions to anonymous cyber-terrorism.
Here is the investigative status report on the threats and the ongoing security operation.
The Incident: Digital Threats, Physical Response
The crisis began on Wednesday morning when the administrative email accounts of three distinct schools in the city received messages claiming that explosive devices had been planted on their premises.
The Response: Upon receiving the alert, school authorities immediately contacted the Ahmedabad Police. Sharad Singhal, Joint Police Commissioner of the Ahmedabad Crime Branch, confirmed the coordinated nature of the threats.
Police teams were instantly dispatched to all three locations. The response included:
Evacuation & Lockdown: Students and staff were moved to safe zones as per established safety protocols.
Search Operations: Specialized Bomb Detection and Disposal Squads (BDDS) and Dog Squads conducted exhaustive sweeps of classrooms, grounds, and administrative blocks.
As of midday Wednesday, no suspicious objects have been found, suggesting the emails may be hoaxes designed to cause disruption and panic.
The Context: A Disturbing Pattern
This incident is not an isolated one for Gujarat in 2025. It marks the latest in a series of bomb threats targeting high-profile institutions this year.
Gujarat High Court Threat (October): Just two months ago, the Gujarat High Court received a similar threat via an email sent to the registrar. A thorough search by the Sola police and bomb squad yielded nothing, and an FIR was registered.
Previous Incidents: Similar threat emails were reported on June 9, August 20, and September 15, each triggering extensive security drills and investigations.
The recurring nature of these threats points to a potential pattern of “swatting” or cyber-hoaxes aimed at exhausting police resources and creating public anxiety.
The Investigation: Tracking the Source
While the immediate physical threat appears to be neutralized, the digital investigation is just beginning.
The Ahmedabad Cyber Crime Cell is likely to take the lead in tracking the origin of the emails. Investigators will be examining IP addresses, email headers, and server logs to identify the sender(s) behind this coordinated disruption.
Authorities have not yet released the names of the three schools affected to prevent further panic among parents.
