Man Allegedly Kills Former Fiancée in Ahmedabad, Calls Her Father to Confess
A 23-year-old man in Ahmedabad was arrested after allegedly killing his 17-year-old former fiancée and informing her father of the crime.
Ahmedabad, Feb. 13, 2026: A 23-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly murdering his 17-year-old former fiancée in Ahmedabad after her family called off their engagement earlier this week.
The accused, identified as Uwais Pathan, reportedly informed the victim’s father about the crime himself, allegedly stating over the phone, “I killed your daughter,” before revealing the location of the incident near Kankaria Gate No. 6. He later surrendered at a local police station.
Engagement Called Off Days Before Incident
According to police officials, the teenager had been engaged to Pathan for approximately six months. During that time, the two met frequently. However, the girl later expressed her desire to end the engagement, telling her family that she found Pathan to be suspicious, verbally abusive, and controlling.
Family members decided to formally call off the engagement earlier this week. Authorities said the decision appears to have triggered the fatal confrontation.
N K Vyas, Assistant Commissioner of Police, J Division, stated that the accused had allegedly warned the family of “consequences” after learning of the broken engagement.
Alleged Threats and Escalating Tension
The victim’s father stated in his complaint that Pathan allegedly created a disturbance at their home on Monday, the day the engagement was officially called off. After both families were informed, the girl reportedly began receiving threatening phone calls.
According to the complaint, the accused allegedly warned that he “would not let her live.” Despite attempts to defuse tensions, the situation reportedly remained strained. The family had advised the teenager not to communicate with him further.
However, police said the accused allegedly continued contacting and threatening her.
The Night of the Incident
The tragic events unfolded on Wednesday night. At approximately 9:30 p.m., Pathan allegedly visited the girl’s residence and persuaded her to step outside with him, reportedly saying he wanted to resolve the dispute.
Around 10:24 p.m., while at work, the father received a phone call from Pathan. During the call, the accused allegedly confessed to killing his daughter and provided details about the location of the incident.
Alarmed, the father immediately contacted family members at home. Relatives rushed to the specified location near Kankaria Gate No. 6, where they found the teenager critically injured.
According to the police complaint, she was discovered with severe head injuries and covered in blood. Emergency services were alerted, but she was declared dead.
Accused Surrenders to Police
After making the call, Pathan reportedly walked into a police station and surrendered. Officers from Maninagar police station took him into custody.
Police confirmed that he has been formally arrested and charged with murder based on the complaint filed by the victim’s father.
Investigators are currently examining evidence from the scene and recording statements from witnesses. Authorities are also reviewing call records and other electronic evidence as part of the investigation.
Police Statement
Assistant Commissioner N K Vyas stated that the termination of the engagement appears to have been the immediate trigger behind the alleged crime. Officials said the investigation will determine the full sequence of events and any additional factors involved.
Police have assured that the case will be handled with urgency and strict legal action will be taken as per the law.
Ongoing Investigation
The tragic incident has shocked residents in the area, raising concerns about escalating interpersonal disputes and threats following broken engagements.
Authorities have urged families to take threats seriously and seek police assistance at the earliest sign of harassment or intimidation.
Further details are expected as the investigation progresses.
